Barn for Renovation

Good Roof

approx 1,500 m² Plot

Hamlet Location

Commune: Pleuville (16)

This renovation comes with an established alley way of tall lime trees which lead from the gated entrance way over the garden. A rather grand first impression for quite a modest, but potentially interesting, project.  Unlike other barns waiting for conversion, this building feels like a far more manageable project that will give you more of a cottage style home than the “Grand Designs” ventures, which can challenge both budgets and motivation in the long run.

The building itself is more than just a barn. It has already been subdivided inside into four store rooms with cement floors and all have good, exposed ceiling beams. The ground floor totals 55 m2 and above, in the attic, accessed for the time being from the outside, is a loft offering the same amount of space again. The roof looks good although there is a low roof beam so you will need to think about where you put the staircase and divide your rooms. You can get two if not three bedrooms up here. Water and electric are close by and we have quotes for the connections. Your drainage will be an individual septic tank.

The land is flat surrounding the property and the present owner is happy to negotiate with you the amount of land that goes with the barn at the point of purchase, depending upon how much you want.

The rural hamlet is a ten minute drive to the historic town of Charroux where there are some small local shop, bars and schools. The markets towns of Civray and Confolens are both fifteen minutes drive away for supermarket shopping and further places to eat out. For international air and train links you have the choice of Poitiers and Limoges, both an hour away.
