It is hard to believe you are in a village, just off the square, when you sit on the terrace of this house and look out over a beautiful garden and the protected woodland beyond the boundary. You may even spot the odd red squirrel or two.
This house was converted in the 80's from a stone built building into an architect designed single story three bedroom house to a very high standard of finish. To the right of the entrance hall is the fully fitted and equipped kitchen, to the left the large lounge/dining room with double patio doors and that garden view. It is fitted, as well as the electric radiators, with an insert wood-burning stove that heats the whole house with ventilated hot air. Double glazed and well insulated this is a comfortable house during those colder days. There is a corridor at the back of the house off which are the three double bedrooms; master bedroom with its "Jack & Jill" bathroom with twin vanity unit and bath with overhead shower unit. The middle bedroom is used by today's owners as an office, and the guest bedroom has an en suite shower room and toilet. There is a useful laundry room at the end of the house, before you step through into the workshop and garage with storage space above. This is an area that could be converted to more accommodation if desired. Throughout the house is a lot of built in storage space, unusual for France!
Outside is the lovely garden, mainly down to lawn, shrubs and trees, both ornamental and fruit. There is also an small open barn and a couple of garden sheds. Situated just off the village square it is a short walk to (or stagger back from) one of the best restaurants in the Charente! The village is well served with garage/village shop, post office, pharmacy, hairdresser, doctor's surgery, primary school and twice daily rail service to Angouleme and Poitiers, where there are rail and air connections to the UK. The market town of Mansle is 9 minutes drive away. ©
